Chin Implant

Provide Balance To Your Facial Features.

Mentoplasty surgery is designed to augment the chin, making it longer and more prominent. Patients with a small or recessive chin line are good candidates for this procedure. Chin implant augmentation is commonly combined with rhinoplasty (nose job), facelift or liposuction under the chin. Dr. Robinson custom fits each Implantech chin implant to the individual. Implantech's complete line of sterile, solid silicone facial implants are FDA and CE certified. Computer imaging and measurements are used to decide the size and shape of each chin implant.

The Chin Implant Procedure

What To Expect During Your Chin Implant Procedure.

After sedation (see Anesthesia for more details), the chin area is anesthetized with local anesthetic. A one-inch incision is made, usually inside the mouth where the lower lip attaches near the front teeth, allieviating any external scar. The implant is placed on the front surface of the chin bone and secured in place with sutures that close the incision. These absorbable sutures dissolve within seven to ten days.

Recovery from a Chin Implant

How To Properly Recover From Your Chin Implant Procedure.

There are no bandages or dressings. Bruising is unusual and discomfort is minimal. Swelling and numbness around the chin is experienced through the first 10 days and antibiotics are taken during this period. Soft foods are recommended for the first few days and physical activity can resume after ten days.

Since the chin implant is placed through an incision inside the mouth avoid any foods that might contain small particles. For example, raw carrots, peanuts, poppy seeds, etc., which can interfere with the healing process. Warm water rinses after eating are recommended

After photos are taken approximately two to three months after surgery.
