Laser Hair Removal and Reduction
Laser hair removal or reduction requires multiple sessions and is performed by our registered nurses.
Using the latest technology, we are able to remove those unwanted hairs. This will ensure that you will never need to shave, or use other depilatory devices, again.
Until now, the only options for removing unwanted hair were shaving, waxing, hair-removal creams, tweezing or electrolysis, and these are all temporary and/or painful. In the 1980s a Russian physicist, while developing the Ruby laser for defense purposes, accidentally lasered himself on the arm. He noticed that the hairs in the lasered area were vaporized, and new hair growth occurred only after a number of months. As a result of this accident, laser hair removal was born. Since that time, many advanced laser systems have been developed for removal of unwanted hair.
This technique is good for underarms, face, legs, back and most other skin surfaces. Multiple treatments are necessary as laser only removes hair that is actively growing.
CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal System
The CoolGlide Laser used at Oswego Spa and Laser can disable hundreds of hair follicles in less than one second...with long-lasting results. With adequate treatment, patients can achieve a 90% or greater reduction in hair in treated areas.
The Altus CoolGlide Laser was specifically designed and tested to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body. It can remove hair from the face, legs, arms, underarms and back. Hair can be removed from sensitive areas like nipples and the bikini line as well.
CoolGlide gives us the flexibility to treat all skin types. Those with fair skin respond the fastest; and deeply tanned skin and darker skin pigmentation may need more treatments. Dark hair responds best; but perfectly white hair does not respond at all.
During treatment, the laser's cooling hand piece glides gently over the skin and pulses of light are delivered. The hair follicles absorb the light and lose their ability to produce new hairs...the skin is left clear and smooth.
Common spa treatment areas are: Bikini - up to navel; inside upper thighs. Face - chin or upper lip; chin and upper lip. Legs - full, upper, lower. Shoulders; Underarms; and Upper back.
