Immediate Results with Juve'derm™

The Juve'derm™ injection process time ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour and results are immediate. Downtime may include minimal swelling for 24 hours.

• Juve'derm™ is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

Juve'derm™ Aftercare

Local anesthetics will be used and can last up to 2 hours, or more.

Swelling may be noticeable at least for the first 48-72 hours. Avoid touching the area during this time. Injectables can be a bit lumpy or uneven and this can be resolved simply with a hot, moist washcloth applied to the area for 5 10 minutes and gently massaged until smooth. This needs to be done within one week following treatment.

Determining your unique treatment needs.

Our registered nurse will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine the amount of Juve'derm™ needed. Juve'derm™ injectable gel is available in two formulations, Juve'derm™ Ultra for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds, and Juve'derm™ Ultra Plus, a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. Pre-treatment photographs are taken so you can see the difference a Juve'derm™ treatment can make!

Before you go.

Avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), for at least a week prior to treatment in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Contact Dr. Robinson's office for the best recommendation.

A Quick Note Before Your Juvèderm™ Procedure

Anesthesia is not required, but our nurse may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area first. The Juve'derm™ injectable gel is eased under your skin to augment, or fill, wrinkles and folds. Following the injection, a gentle massage is performed on the treated area(s). The procedure is quick and easy. The injection itself usually takes only about 15 minutes.

After the procedure: With Juve'derm™, there is minimal recovery or downtime.

For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize the risks of temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching. After the treatment, some temporary injection-related reactions may occur, including redness, pain, firmness, swelling, and bumps.

Studies have shown that these are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in 7 days or less. If you experience swelling at the injection site, you can apply an ice pack for a brief period.

Results from your Juvèderm™ treatment

You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. One treatment may smooth your lines and wrinkles for up to 1 year! However, results may vary and correction is temporary.

Supplemental touch up treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.
